There are many beautiful places in the world, but most of us have one we call home. For me, that’s the Black Hills. I was born here and have lived here for the last 20+ years.
Though I grew up in central Florida (another beautiful spot), I always considered this my home. Our family returned here every summer and most Christmas holidays to spend time with my grandparents. I’ve watched the Hills change over the years, but it’s always been home to me. I’d like to share this beautiful spot with you.
I envision this website as being equally useful to local people as to visitors. I’d like to post information about events, festivals, happenings, etc., both for folks who might like to attend and for artists, musicians, crafters, and so on to make plans to participate. So if you have an event, tell me about it in the comments and I’ll contact you for more information. Right now I’m just getting set up, but eventually, I hope this web page will become very visible to people interested in knowing what’s going on in the Black Hills.
In addition, I’d like to include links to local micro-businesses, artists, musicians . . . anything special and known or unknown about our beautiful home. When I visit a new place I’m always in search of that one particular treasure that no one else found because they somehow just didn’t turn on the right street, or they didn’t realize that inconspicuous restaurant was a local favorite, or they hadn’t heard about the music festival in the park that evening. Most of us want visitors to know what we have to offer. We want them to find that amazing pastry shop or the fabric artist who lives on 67th street and will invite you in to look around if you just knock.
So, if you should happen to stumble across this page in this, its infancy, feel free — feel welcomed to drop me a note and make suggestions. I’d love to hear from you.
